This training will help you prepare as you plan for, prepare and deliver food for occasional events such as 4-H Club meetings, picnics, and working food stands at fairs; Master Gardner Volunteers providing food at one-time events; and anyone who serves food to the public occasionally such as bake sales, church potlucks and picnics, school concession stands, etc.

Students will learn basic practices for handling food safely, including good personal hygiene, preventing cross-contamination, time and temperature abuse, and proper cleaning and sanitizing.

When engaged in programs/activities that include food preparation and/or service, Ohio State University Extension faculty, staff, and volunteers must follow local and state food preparation and service guidelines (when applicable); adhere to appropriate licensing procedures; and be knowledgeable of food safety guidelines.
