Greene County Master Gardeners invite you to join us on Saturday, April 16th from 8:30 am – 3:00 pm at the Greene County OSU Extension Office, 100 Fairground Rd. Xenia, Oh 45385 to learn about the movement to buy local while learning how to extend the harvest by preserving the fresh produce that comes from local growers and from your own gardens. Learn about the history of preserving food; learn the basics of choosing fresh produce; learn the latest methods of safe home canning, freezing, drying and jellying the harvest. Resources and recipes will be provided and local vendors and producers will be on hand to offer expertise and products. This program is designed for all levels of experience.


Speakers include:

  • Susan Gordy, Director of Evendale Cultural Arts Center;
  • Macy Reynolds, Local Foods Initiative Activist and GC Master Gardener;
  • Melanie Hart, Ohio State University Family & Consumer Sciences Educator; and
  • Brenda Sandman-Stover, OSU Family & Consumer Sciences Program Assistant.

Summer will be here before we know it and this Seminar will give you the knowledge and the tools to enjoy your harvest well beyond the growing season.
